Alysia Wanczyk from Seedrs reports:
We are continuing to see rapid growth in the amount
invested through Seedrs, with the past month our strongest yet. We’ve now
funded 18 startups in our first eight-and-a-half months of operation, making us
by far the fastest-growing equity crowdfunding platform in Europe.
The records we’ve set this month include:
PixelPin became the first startup to raise a full £150,000
through Seedrs. The investment came from 193 investors (another record-breaker)
and will sit alongside investment they have already received from telecoms
giant Telefónica through its Wayra accelerator programme. PixelPin’s business
is a new approach to online authentication using personal pictures to replace
passwords - making it easier and more secure to login to mobile devices and tablets.
Swogo became the first Seedrs startup to raise a second
round the the platform, successfully adding £60,000 to the £17,500 they raised
in the autumn. They've also just secured a spot in the prestigious
Startupbootcamp accelerator programme, making them the first startup to get
accepted onto an accelerator programme after raising funds through Seedrs.
Swogo helps consumers make expert purchase decisions in just 60 seconds.
Finally, DeskLodge,
became the first startup to fund through Seedrs without the benefit of SEIS or
EIS relief. While tax advantages are a key motivator for many early-stage
investors, DeskLodge’s success in raising £12,000 shows that Seedrs is
available to startups of all varieties. DeskLodge runs a shared office space
for small companies to work more collaboratively with other companies.
Although these listings have funded, we
have more than 50 others currently live on the platform. Check them out here.
