History of the Crowd Funding Revolution:

Crowd funding (alternately crowdfunding, crowd financing, equity crowdfunding, crowd sourced capital or street performer protocol) describes the collective cooperation, attention and trust by people who network and pool their money and other resources together, usually via the Internet, to support efforts initiated by other people or organizations. Crowd funding occurs for any variety of purposes,[1] from disaster relief to citizen journalism to artists seeking support from fans, to political campaigns, to funding a startup company, movie [2] or small business[3] or creating free software.

Groups and cooperatives have been micro lending for several hundred years. One of the larger and more popular programs was called the Irish Loan Fund. Started by Jonathan Swift in the 1700s, the fund provided loans to low-income families in rural areas. As time went on Crowd Funding took on various aspects to this form of group lending power whether in the form of actual group financing or in the form of donation or pledges by many in return for small incentives, trinkets or product.

NOW!

With the evolution of the internet and more important social media crowdfunding began to see a high rate of growth, especially among creative projects, independent film makers, artists, and technology based projects. Fast forward to the collapse of the U.S. economy, the tightening of lending regulations and the lack of capital freely flowing from the banking institution and the perfect storm was created. Crowd funding has begun to explode on the scene as one of the few viable options for raising capital when bound by a lack of personal or corporate assets. Although still bound by strict SEC regulation Crowdfunding was not a viable option for starting a business or company due to the inability to exchange stock for investment unless you had the rescources to reach “Accredited Investors” and put together a fully regulated and acceptable prospectus meeting the SEC guidelines for such an offering. But as Crowdfunding grew so did the voice of the people and the masses to deregulate SEC guidelines when pertaining to Crowdfunding for start-ups, enter the “Entrepreneurs Right to Capital Act” also known as bill H.R. 2930 or the “Jobs Act”.

Future of the Revolution!

The future of crowdfunding is NOW and is allowing investors’ equity in an idea or business. If we can fund ideas from friends who want to see us become successful, imagine if those friends actually got to participate in the revenue stream. Wouldn’t you give a little extra if, instead of receiving a simple return, you had the opportunity not only to make a profit but also to own a percentage of the company itself? With the passing of the "Jobs Act" by the House and Senate and then being signed into law on April 5th 2012 the future is now! Crowdfunding can now be utilized by anyone under new less restrictive guidelines to raise capital for start ups in exchange for ownership or stock. This is huge, and will drive a revolution of creative projects and innovative companies the likes of which have never been seen. Crowd funding still relatively unknown to the masses will in our opinion impact and revolutionize the face of business and entrepreneurship in a way that is yet to be fully realized. Now anyone can realize their dreams so join the revolution with us at CrowdIt and "Don’t Just Dream It, CrowdIt"!
